Technology and Materials

San Fernando MS Makerspace is equipped with a variety of technology, tools and materials to support classrooms in a project- based learning environment. The technology in the space range from a green screen to 3D printing and allow students to gain 21st century skills that will prepare students for STEAM related fields all while learning classroom content in an inspiring, fun and enriching space.

The versatility and accessibility of the technology and materials allow it to transform the space into a multipurpose room for any academic core class. Be sure to reserve the space to use any technology for your hands-on learning projects in the classroom.

3D Printer

Learning in a 3 Dimensional world can allow students to think critically, creatively, collaborate with others, be innovative and learn technology skills useful for the ever changing 21st century. Through the 3D printer, students use design thinking to solve for problems of tomorrow. Student led making provides them opportunities to take ownership of their learning and challenges them to apply their knowledge and model their work.

Film Green Screen

Allow your students to gain film and technology skills in the classroom with the green screen. Students can learn to use film equipment such as IPAD'S, IMOVIE software and Mic and boombox, all while applying content knowledge in an innovative learning space. Use this space to transform your classroom into a media center where connections are made, skills are harnessed, and creativity is supported.

Electronics

Using batteries, wires, LED's and a variety of other tools, students can learn the wonders of circuits like how to light up LED's, sensors, and turn on motors.

Makey makey allow students to learn about conductivity  of different objects and materials all while having fun and being engaged with relevant coursework.

​

Arduinos allow students to code anything programmable, from LEDS that sensor movement to robots that make sound and move. Anything is possible with the right code!

Arts & Crafts

The makerspace is stocked with a variety of paper ranging in color, size, and texture. Poster paper, recycled materials, markers, glue sticks, tape and much more provide students the outlet to be innovative with their projects and ideas. Students can creatively present their ideas and have an aesthetic look to it.

Cricut Design

The Cricut allow students to design personalized items out of any material into works of art. The Cricut cuts designs from vinyl, iron-on, paper, cardstock, cardboard and much more! Encourage your students to be designers, artists and resourceful.

DONATIONS WELCOMED!

The Makerspace is for anyone in the SFMS community to use, but with that, we are in need of replenished supplies so that it can continue being used for inspiration. We are grateful of any parents, teachers, staff or community members who would like to donate any materials!
